Year 9 Options

I would like to thank all parents/carers who attended our Year 9 Options evening last Thursday. The atmosphere was amazing and our Heads of Department were really impressed by the maturity and level of questions that our students were asking them. As I said in the presentation, the Options process is a very important one that should not be rushed and students are really demonstrating they understand this.

Students have four weeks to consider their subject choices with the deadline for the Options form to be submitted to Form Tutors being Thursday 27th February.

The questions raised on our ‘Questions or Queries’ form on the evening were personal to individual students with responses being sent directly to parents.

One question that has been raised by parents/carers is in relation to French only being available to pick in Option block B. As a result, some students were not able to pick their preferred combination of subjects as French is in the same Option block as another subject that students wanted to study e.g. Computer Science/Business Enterprise. I’m pleased to confirm that we have added French to Option block C to support students in accessing their required combination of subjects. The Options form that students will be given in registration will reflect this change. I will explain this to Year 9 in assembly on Wednesday 5th February.
