TYN-Y-FELIN 2025

7th March 2025

Dear Parents/Carers

We are excited to offer our Year 7 students the opportunity to attend a residential trip to Tyn-y-felin, a fantastic outward bounds centre located on the beautiful island of Anglesey. As you may be aware from correspondence in the Head’s Herald, TCAT now holds the lease to this facility and has plans to expand its use in the future.

We have been allocated a set number of places for the trip which will take place across three visits. If we receive more applications than we have places available, a draw will be done to allocate students fairly on Wednesday 2nd April.

We will determine who goes on which dates.

Trip Details

Dates

Group 1         Monday 12th May – Wednesday 14th May

Group 2         Monday 2nd June – Wednesday 4th June

Group 3         Wednesday 4th June – Friday 6th June

Duration – 3 days, 2 nights

Cost – £75.00 which includes transport, food and all the activities

There will be an option to pay the trip in full or as part of a payment plan to split the costs over the following dates:

Deposit due by 28/03/25                                     £45

Second payment due by 23/05/25                    £30

Payment for the trip should be made online via iPay (www.ipayimpact.co.uk).  Please choose the option ‘School Shop’ and then either ‘Tyn-Y-Felin 2025 Deposit Year 7 – £45.00’, or ‘Tyn-Y-Felin 2025 Full Amount Year 7 – £75.00’. If your child is entitled to free school meals and would like to pay using their voucher, please indicate on the attached form.

Please complete the attached consent form https://forms.office.com/e/LKqkk4PG9r to consent to your child taking part in the visit. Additionally, a medical consent form must be completed which will be sent out electronically via the Arbor app, nearer to the time of the visit.

The deadline for the deposit payment is Friday 28th March by 15.00.

We will attempt to keep students within their Form groups, with two Forms attending each visit and students will sleep in single sex dormitories.

This residential trip offers a great opportunity for our Year 7 students to cement existing friendships and build new ones in a supportive and engaging environment. Through a range of outdoor activities, students will develop teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. The experience will also build independence, resilience and confidence, as students step outside their comfort zones and take on new challenges.

Attendance on this visit will, as always be subject to a student maintaining high standards of attitude to learning, behaviour and attendance. We reserve the right to refuse any child a place on this visit should their behaviour and/or attendance be of concern during the course of the year.

If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact Mr S Mason at [email protected]

We look forward to providing this exciting experience for our students.

Yours faithfully

S Mason
