Mrs Beverley Scott-Herron, Headteacher of Sir Thomas Boteler Church of England High School, has received national recognition with a Certificate of Excellence for The 2021 Award for Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School, from the Pearson’s National Teaching Awards.
Michael Morpurgo, President of the Pearson National Teaching Awards wrote in his letter to Mrs Scott-Herron: “The work you do, day-in, day-out – is life-enhancing, life-changing. I am writing to congratulate you and to thank you. You open doors, shine a light. You spend your working life passing on to children all that you know and love. Your devotion to them, to colleagues, to the school you work in has been extraordinary. So, bravo you, bravo!”
Mrs Scott-Herron commented: “This is completely unexpected. I do the job because I absolutely love it. We’ve just been through one of the most difficult periods ever in education and for people to take time to nominate me in such difficult circumstances is extremely humbling. I believe in my young people, the staff and whole school community. We’ve come so far as a school: and it’s a team effort. I see this recognition as being for all of us here; for how we change lives for our young people on a daily basis.”
